Dear Briarfest Volunteer,

With Briarfest 2017 wrapping up, the smell of the cotton candy, funnel cake, and corn dogs subsiding, and the cleanup beginning, its’ time to recognize the reason for our event’s success, YOU!

As the Chair of Briarfest I wanted to take a moment on behalf of the entire committee, the Saint Gabriel staff and Catholic Charities to thank you for your willingness to volunteer. Your hard work and tireless efforts did not go unnoticed. It is quite apparent that an event of this magnitude could not be executed without your support and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty!

I know that I speak for everyone involved in Briarfest when I say we couldn’t have done it without you! For a community of this size to undertake an event of this magnitude speaks volumes for your willingness to do God’s work and help bring something very special to our community. St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church is not just a place of worship, but it is truly a vehicle by which we spread the good news through our active faith and works. Briarfest is just another example of what an active and vibrant parish and a neighboring community with a strong partnership can do!

Thank you again for all that you have done and your willingness to help bring hundreds of smiles, good times, good cheer and great family memories to our community. The numerous smiles I saw on the faces of the children, parents and grandparents throughout Briarfest weekend say it all. You truly made an impact and should be proud.

Thank you again for all that you have done and thank you most of all for your willingness to serve. You have helped create memories that will last a life time.

Yours in Christ,

Jeff Parker

Briarfest Chairman

Eucharistic Procession on October 1
On the weekend of Sept 30 / Oct 1, the parish will celebrate the solemnity of Sts. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, Archangels, our parish patron saint. The archangels readings will be used at all Mass times. The 10:30 and 12:30 Masses will be combined at 10:30, with a Eucharistic Procession to follow Mass.
The Blessed Sacrament will be carried in solemn procession, circling our church property, pausing at stations where Fr. Kirk will bless the faithful with the monstrance. After returning to the nave, Fr. Kirk will give the final benediction and repose the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle.
Following the Procession, the parish will gather for a shared pot-luck meal in the Four-plex, music, and dancing from our Spanish dancers, Estrellas Latinas de San Gabriel. Join the parish family to celebrate St. Gabriel the Archangel, and to give praise with our full community! Contact Vivian at headsacristan at gmail.com to sign up for the potluck lunch.
