Celebrate St. Gabriel’s Feast Day by Feeding the homeless at Marian House Soup Kitchen

For the past few years, our parish has sponsored the Marian House Soup Kitchen on September 29, the feast day of St. Gabriel. We invite you to help us demonstrate our faith in action by volunteering at the soup kitchen on that day. The feast falls on a Saturday this year, making it easier for you to lend a hand if you work. There are two shifts to choose from: 7 to 10 am and 10 am to 2 pm.  To sign up, please contact Doug Rouse at 719-866-6286.  Our parish name will be posted on the sponsorship marque outside of the Marian House, in the Catholic Charities newsletter, and on their website.  A photo will be taken with volunteers under the sign that will be posted on social media.  Thank you!

Bishop Michael Sheridan's Facebook Live Discussion on Clergy Sexual Abuse

Bishop Michael Sheridan will host a Facebook Live “ask-and-answer” session on Thursday, Sept. 13 from 7:00-7:30 p.m. In this session, Bishop Sheridan will be taking questions on the difficult topic of clergy sexual abuse. EPIC: A Journey through Church History

Beginning with the lives of the apostles up to the present day, Epic takes the history of the Church and simplifies it into twelve time periods, over the course of twenty sessions.  Join us in the Saint Kateri room on Tuesdays from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., starting Sept 18.

Briarfest Sept 7-9, 2018

Can you help feed the patrons of Mercy’s Gate?

We are gearing up for the Walk to End Hunger, 9:00 AM on Sept. 8, with a goal of 6,000 lbs. of food collected for Mercy’s Gate food pantry.  Mercy’s Gate serves people in need, many of which are in our Briargate community.

 You can participate in several ways:

·        King Soopers at Union/Briargate Parkway has begun sale of pre-packed bags of food at their check-out, very simple, and priced at $15.50.  It’s filled with “low-reserve” items for the pantry.  Deposit the bag at the store, or bring it to the St. Gabriel bin.

·        Pack your own bag, and bring it into the parish bin.  Shop the sale circular, or hit the Dollar Store.  Jelly, toothbrushes and toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, soap & shampoo, powdered / canned milk, and large diapers — sizes 4, 5 & 6 are in critical need.

·        Make a donation from your own household pantry.

·        FINALLY:  Join us for the Walk, on Saturday, Sept. 8.  We’ll meet at the corner of Austin Bluffs & Coach House, walk to King Soopers to accept the food, and back to all the fun at Briarfest!
